Just Another Cute Ass...

Growing up on a rural farm brought a variety of experiences and critters across my path, including an old mule that my father sometimes worked with to plow our garden. Dad would also put a saddle on that old mule, and ride with my brother and I when we would go out on horseback. Those childhood memories are a part of what inspired my interest in the cute and sometimes humorous postcards of these animals - donkeys, mules, burros, and such. This postcard was postmarked from Portland, Oregon, destination - Seattle, Washington, with a note on back dated August 20, 1909. Edward H. Mitchell, Publisher, San Francisco. Caption on front reads: 1559 - Ready For Business.

This postcard was postmarked from Amarillo, Texas on October 21, 1907, destination - Chicago, Illinois.  Has a note on back dated October 20, 1907. Caption on front: 2. Mamma's Baby.

This embossed view was postmarked from Salt Lake City, Utah on October 12, 1906, and appears to have been postmarked again at a foreign location, Kristiana. It is addressed to Christiania, Norway. Caption on front: 7-Now, All Together, with note written around the border of the card.
